Combatting Obsolescence &
Future-Proofing Performance:
COM-Based Architecture
|
Even though tech can seem fully evolved, the reality is that new applications and breakthroughs are happening regularly – forcing computers into obsolescence. Unlike non-modular systems, COM allows for piece-by-piece upgrades rather than an entire system redesign, especially if you start with the right carrier board design. In fact, for a client’s upfit, we recently swapped out modules released in 2013 with new 2023 modules without any disruptions.

The Four Biggest Factors in Rugged Computing
|
Rugged industrial computers are designed to withstand conditions in which standard consumer PCs would suffer dramatic performance loss or failure. While many environmental factors affect the reliability and health of these computers, there are four primary concerns that engineers must work to address.

Test & Measurement for Stress & Stability
|
A leading provider of process automation control systems across the Mid-Atlantic region focuses on solutions for medical and drug product manufacturing. Not only do the actual pharmaceutical testing systems necessitate fail-safe I/O for expansion, but the facilities themselves are subject to rigorous environmental requirements and compliance.

Versatile Comms & for Embedded Computers
|
I/O is the critical link that enables devices to communicate with each other, allowing data to be passed between controllers and sensor systems. And with trends in retrofitting existing equipment to interface with advanced electronics, modern industrial computers need to support a large variety of communications.

A government systems integrator is evaluating the Rugged SuperSpeed 7-Port USB 3.1 Hub to update radio communications in support of the U.S. Air Force and PEITSS.
|
|
The 2165-OEM USB serial adapter is used to update legacy systems for bus fare collection and is now being deployed to upgrade ticket vending machines in major cities across the U.S.

|
With 16 SPDT Form C relays, the SeaI/O-450E has been specified for controlling a variety of peripherals for fire response automation systems based on its reliability and availability guarantee.

As SATCOM data transfer requirements for satellites and vehicles have increased, a leading DOD integrator is testing the 5402e to interface with multiple synchronous data streams.

What is the UKCA marking and are Sealevel’s products UKCA certified?
The UKCA marking is the conformity marking used to indicate that a product meets all the applicable requirements for products being placed on the market in the UIK. The marking applies to most products and product categories for which a CE marking can be used.
Initially, the CE mark was accepted as an alternative until 2022. In 2023, after several extensions of the grace period, the UK government extended recognition of goods that meet the requirements for CE marking indefinitely. Essentially, other than a few narrow use cases, a CE-certified product meets all the requirements for entrance into the UK market. By this definition, all Sealevel CE-certified products are qualified for purchase within the UK.
